Website care checklist for small teams
Twenty minutes a month to keep your site fast, secure, and trustworthy.
First: confirm the basics
- Load your homepage on mobile. If it takes longer than 3 seconds, note it.
- Submit your own contact form to confirm you get the email or WhatsApp ping.
- Click the main CTA. Does it still point to the right calendar or quote page?
Speed touch-up
Compress anything larger than 300 KB. Use TinyPNG or Squoosh. Swap GIFs for MP4 or WEBM where possible.
Remove embeds you no longer use (old chat widgets, forms, analytics). Every script adds weight.
Security and backups
- Renew SSL certificates and your domain. Set auto-renew if possible.
- Update CMS and plugins and keep only the ones you actually use.
- Verify your backup ran (download one file locally, just in case).
Content freshness
Update at least one proof point: swap a testimonial, add a new project, or change the hero headline if your offer evolved. Small tweaks keep the site from feeling stale.
Monthly reminder template
Send this to yourself or the team every month:
Checklist: speed, forms, backups, content update. Add any issues below and drop the sheet link.
5) Internal links that sell
Blogs should pull visitors toward buying decisions. Use contextual links that read like helpful suggestions.
“See our custom kitchen remodeling in Frisco” pointing to the service or portfolio page.
Drop review snippets or mini case studies directly under every CTA so trust is always one scroll away.
